Who is Michael Charton? I've got a long history and experience that would lend credibility to all of the areas of my business. I'm originally from New York state, born in Brooklyn, and grew up in the historic Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. No, I cannot sell you the Brooklyn Bridge; however, I did walk across it frequently as a young man. I saw the World Trade Center being built from my living room window, had part time jobs in the building, visited people, and watched in shock from a New Jersey Cliffside as it burned.I majored in Political Science at City College of New York, got an Asian Studies Degree from Seton Hall University then moved to Boston. I met my wife there and received my MLS degree is from Simmons College in Boston.
I started out in research, working as a reference librarian for over 17 years, the last five for the Parsippany Public Library in Parsippany, New Jersey. I ran training programs for others in research and leadership, and was one of the first to educate others on the power of research on the internet.
My wife and I finally decided to relocate to Tucson, Arizona, when friends convinced us to do so. I have always been fascinated by Arizona and the majestic Saguaro. Too many Road Runner cartoons as a child are also a factor. I got into the business of customer service by working in a couple of call centers in the area. Call centers are a growing and thriving business in this area; I couldn't tell you why. I was involved in training those who manned the phones on good customer service skills, which not only includes how one might communicate with the customer, but also how to get through calls quickly so that they can get to the next customer. I made sure we always had a high customer satisfaction rate.
I have been a member of Toastmasters International for over fifteen years, and it's where I gained the confidence in speaking to people in public, as well as learned the skills to educate and coach others on how to do it.
And, finally, I'm also a writer. My first book, Holmes vs. Moriarity, will be published soon. I have also written many articles along the way, many of which you'll be able to read throughout this website.
Any experience even if negative is a learning experience. Allegedly it took Thomas Edison 10,000 tries to invent the light bulb. When asked what he learned he replied with "9,999 ways NOT to invent a light bulb." So, if you are not growing, you are thirsty, then dehydrated then dying. I believe if you give me the opportunity to work with you, to help you and your business grow, we'll both grow together.
